The LSBA Modest Means Directory and Limited Scope Representation
This CLE is for attorneys interested in joining the LSBA Modest Means Online Legal Directory. During the first portion of the CLE, LSBA Access to Justice Commission Co-Chair Alainna R.Mire provides an overview of the online directory, the attorneys ‘responsibilities as an attorney listed on the directory, and eligibility requirements to view the directory by the public. The second portion of the CLE is presented by LSBA Ethics Counsel Richard Lemmler who discusses ethical considerations when providing limited scope representation including the relevant Rules of Professional Conduct, Louisiana District Court Rules, case law, and forms. Finally, Judge Lisa Woodruff-White (ret.) discusses how limited scope representation can be used to increase access to justice, which can benefit the client, the attorney, and the courts. She also highlights the Limited Scope Representation Practice Guide for attorneys recently released by the Louisiana Access to Justice Commission.
