As the digital ecosystem grows within business operations, so too does the attack surface for threat actors to exploit cyber risk. To combat this emerging risk, many state and federal agencies have instituted regulations and standards to protect organizations and the customers they serve. Failure to meet these compliance standards set by a regulatory authority could land an organization in litigation or an investigation, which may require an expert witness to attest to the organization’s cyber risk mitigation efforts. In the session “Cybersecurity Compliance Failures, Incidents, and Investigations," Todd Renner, Senior Managing Director from FTI Consulting, will dive into varying aspects of cybersecurity-related litigation, including the cybersecurity legal risk landscape, forensic investigations, and expert witnesses.
For an in-depth view of the cybersecurity risk landscape, FTI Consulting is pleased to share a chapter from the January 2022 FTI Resilience Barometer® which incorporates the views of 3,314 decision makers in large companies across all G20 countries and 11 industries. In this chapter, FTI Consulting explores attitudes toward data privacy and cybersecurity issues, including the cyber risk posed by third parties, securing digital assets, remote work security risks, and cyber incident reporting.
