“Policy Overhaul: Understanding Recent Legislative Changes in Insurance Law” will provide a synopsis and analysis of 2024 revisions to four areas of the insurance code: (1) the direct action statute (2) the uninsured motorist insurance statute (3) the bad faith penalty statutes and (4) the appraisal statutes. The legislature undertook this task with the stated purpose of making Louisiana a more favorable market for insurers and reducing insurance costs for Louisiana businesses and consumers. The presentation will touch on the central aspects of
these statutes and how the revisions are likely to affect litigation and insurance coverage disputes.
