The Essential Guide to Voir Dire
Hon. Madeliene M. Landrieu (ret.) • Dean of Loyola University College of Law • New Orleans Colleen C. Jarrott • Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz • New Orleans Jennifer L. Thornton • Stanley, Reuter, Ross, Thornton & Alford • New Orleans
The essential purpose of voir dire is to minimize this risk of chance and the unknown about how a jury will view your client’s case. Your goal during voir dire is to learn as much as possible about a group of strangers in a short period of time so you can make decisions about who should be excluded.
